Ordina invests in areas where societal friction is the largest. That is why the cornerstones in our CSR-policy are the following:
Social care: participation and diversity
Ordina focuses on vulnerable groups: youths, foreigners and people with a handicap. With concrete initiatives that are commercially viable.
Ordina contributes by stimulating people with a handicap towards labour participation for instance. The statistics in this regard are still relatively low. By focussing on the possibilities still open to people with a handicap, we take an important step towards realising their full participation in society. At present, we are involved in a number of social projects:
- Testing software with autistic people
- Outsourcing handicapped youths (“Wajong”) for IT services
- Developing website applications to stimulate handicapped people in participating in sports
- Coaching VMBO students
Ordina realises that there are countries across our borders where there is a need for help. CSR investments are made to Social Organisations in Africa to assist them in their work as part of our CSR initiatives. Ordina has been working with the Dutch Red Cross for many years. We contribute to the IT and organisational development of Red Cross organisations in various African Countries during short missions to these areas. We are developing a generic approach based on the experiences gained in doing so and hope to employ this approach in other countries and organisations in the future. At present we are working on:
- IT and Organisational Development for the local Red Cross organisations in Ethiopia and Uganda
- Setting up a Business Development Centre in Ghana with the IICD
- With Oxfam Novib, Ordina is developing measuring tools to measure the effect of micro credits
Environmental Care
Our society is well aware of the fact that we need to take better care of our environment. Healthy economic growth and conserving our planet are not mutually exclusive. By being conservation-minded and conducting environment-friendly business operations, Ordina is contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions. By taking measures regarding mobility, saving energy and water, pollution prevention and separating refuse. Ordina also develops innovative products and services that contribute towards an environment-friendly society. Concrete examples of this include:

- Environment Management System
