Each year thousands of children visit paediatricians, on their own initiative or after a referral from the school doctor, the Municipal Health Services and the Child Care Clinics from the Public Health Services. The critical factors are to deliver the proper care in all cases and to ensure that no child falls through the cracks in the healthcare system.

Challenge
An electronic client-tracking system for the registration of the medical and psychosocial development for all children between the ages of 0 and 19 years in the Netherlands. Recorded and updated by nursing staff and doctors from the public health child care clinics. An essential, but difficult task. The electronic child-dossier for youth healthcare (known under the Dutch acronym EKD JGZ) prevents children from going unnoticed and gives selected professionals direct access to all relevant information. This leads to an overall improvement of youth healthcare and helps each child.
Solution
Kidos is a national web-based electronic child-dossier. A well-secured national database, accessible via fixed and mobile internet connections. Set up in 2006 by Ordina and Gino. During the course of 2009 the various healthcare institutions will start working with the digital dossiers. From the end of 2009 each child will be given an electronic dossier as soon as they come into contact with youth healthcare institutions.
Kidos is the new standard for electronic dossier management of Youth Healthcare and Youth Social Work. These institution and other mandated parties have insight into the health status of each child at the click of one button. The optional planning module shows all contact moments and makes it possible to schedule appointments. The module can be integrated seamlessly with existing planning modules and schedules the professionals time as efficiently as possible.
Our client
Ordina developed Kidos on behalf of GGD Rotterdam and GGD Amsterdam. Other users are the organisations Thuiszorg Midden-Limburg, Zorggroep Noord-Limburg, Stichting Ouder en Kind in Rotterdam and various other public health service providers. Users are very positive in their feedback on the dossier.
Result
Kidos renders paper dossiers as a thing of the past. The new dossier is always up-to-date, available directly to professionals and cannot be lost or incomplete.
