Healthcare

The balance between the quality and the costs of healthcare has been an important topic of discussion in Dutch society for years now. Due to the aging of the general population in the Netherlands, budget shortages and the turnaround to demand driven healthcare and output financing, it seems that commercially managed and executed healthcare provision is winning this argument. As specialist at the intersection of IT, business processes and innovative solutions, Ordina actively participates in discussions on the topical and complex issues facing its clients and partners in the Healthcare sector.

Quality versus cost saving

Although cost saving is the key word in many political debates on healthcare, the quality of healthcare is the most important subject in the public opinion. The Dutch political parties, ranging from the VVD to the SP and from the PvdA to PVV, all believe that healthcare should become more compact. ‘Closer’ is a widely supported motto. More attention should be paid to the first line of healthcare provision. How can the quality be guaranteed and cost savings be realised simultaneously?

Paradigm shift

Managing both the quality of care as well as the cost price thereof demands a different perspective and new skills from managers and professionals in the Healthcare sector. The question is: how can demand-driven healthcare processes be set up, managed and executed in a manner where quality and efficiency are balanced and both can be guaranteed? The cry to replace reactive care with proactive and preventative care is heard more often nowadays. It is evident that IT solutions and new technologies will play a strategic role in this change.

E-health

It is very clear that these times call for new business models, new chains and new technology. This applies to the Healthcare sector too. From robot performed operations to twitter consultations: the Healthcare sector is happy to adopt the innovations in information and communication technology. E-health and remote care are important developments that could prove profitable for this sector.
